If the recent two-article series by Alliance member companies BDTI and NVIDIA on developing OpenCV-based applications for Android has piqued your interest in embedded vision opportunities on mobile electronics devices, I encourage you to head to Anaheim, California in late July for the yearly (and 40th) SIGGRAPH International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. There, specifically on Thursday, July 25 from 10:45AM to 12:15PM, four representatives from NVIDIA's Research division will present a workshop entitled "Mobile Visual Computing in C++ on Android."

Here's more, from the event Advance Program (PDF, page 19):

This workshop teaches the basics to get started quickly with your visual-computing project on Android using native C++ code, from setting up tools to running your first native application, and it dives into deeper topics, including computer vision with OpenCV, camera control on FCam, and performance tuning.

According to company representative Kari Pulli, the workshop is a condensed subset of NVIDIA's online-published Native Android Development Tutorial, which I also commend to your inspection.

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
