ARM TechCon: An Embedded Vision Concentration You Can Count On

ARMTechCon

As you may have recently noticed in perusing the Alliance member page, two new companies recently joined the membership list. Market analysis firm Argus Insights will be a familiar name to those who've already viewed the video of the presentation by company CEO John Feland, Ph.D. at July's Alliance Member Meeting. And processor core IP developer ARM will likely also be a familiar name to many of you!

ARM's yearly TechCon conference (including the Developer Summit) takes place the end of this month (October 29-31, to be exact) at the Santa Clara, California Conference Center, and the Embedded Vision Alliance (and embedded vision) will be well represented there. Alliance founder Jeff Bier will deliver the presentation "Creating Smarter Applications and Systems Through Visual Intelligence" on October 29 at 4PM PT. Here's a short description of it, from Bier himself:

It will be about the proliferation of embedded vision, what you can do with it, what is enabling it, key challenges, and resources for engineers available from Embedded Vision Alliance.

More generally, here's a description from ARM of the various embedded vision-related presentations that will take place at the conference:

Day 1 of the developer summit, on October 29, encompasses many GPU-based computing topics, including computer vision and computational photography. The depth of the sessions, including the workshop on Day 1, should help developers gain a basic understanding of the intrinsics and optimization techniques with OpenCL, RenderScript, etc.
