Renesas Demonstration of Edge-based Refrigerator Inventory Management

Cristian Ionescu-Catrina, Senior Marketing Manager for the Home Segment at Renesas, demonstrates the company's latest embedded vision technologies and products at the January 2018 Consumer Electronics Show. Specifically, Ionescu-Catrina demonstrates how embedded vision can be implemented in a real home appliance via convolutional neural networks.

The refrigerator being demonstrated performs two separate vision algorithms: one for user identification using the front camera, and the other for refrigerator content identification using the internal camera. It runs on the dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 Renesas RZ/G1 MPU with NEON acceleration.
