Lattice Semiconductor Demonstration of Object Counting Using ECP5 and Machine Learning

Dirk Seidel, Senior Industrial Marketing Manager at Lattice Semiconductor, delivers a product demonstration at the May 2018 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Seidel demonstrates object counting using machine learning with a CNN implementation based on Lattice’s sensAI stack and the ECP5 FPGA. Seidel shows how Lattice’s small form factor, low power and production-priced ECP5 FPGA can help count apples and oranges at a grocery store’s self-checkout terminal, while consuming less than 1W.

The commercial use of this demonstration can be expanded to a variety of industrial and consumer counting applications. The ready-to-use reference design, IP core and software tools used in this demo are available to download from Lattice’s website.

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
