Two Upcoming Jeff Bier Appearances, Representing the Embedded Vision Alliance

If you weren't able to attend Alliance Founder Jeff Bier's recent overview talk at the Embedded Vision Summit, don't despair; an archive of it is now available on the Alliance website. And, if you'd prefer to "catch him live," you've got two additional pending opportunities to do so.

Back in mid-February, I gave you a heads-up about the IEEE Embedded Vision Workshop, to be held June 24 in Portland, Oregon as part of the IEEE CVPR (Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition) Conference. At the time, I said:

The Embedded Vision Alliance will likely attend the Embedded Vision Workshop again this summer, although the exact form of that participation is yet to be finalized.

Well, it's now finalized. Bier will be giving a talk at the Embedded Vision Workshop, entitled "Development and Deployment of Embedded Vision in Industry:  An Update." Here's an abstract:

Increasingly powerful, inexpensive programmable processors and image sensors are making it possible to incorporate vision capabilities into a very wide range of electronic products, such as retail point of sale kiosks and signs, personal medical devices, automotive safety systems and smart phones. In this presentation, we'll provide an update on the development and deployment of embedded vision technology in industry. We’ll highlight some of the newest, most interesting and most promising products incorporating vision capabilities. And we’ll report on important developments in practical enabling technologies, including processors, sensors, development platforms and standards. Finally, we’ll share an early version of a map of the embedded vision industry, under development by the Embedded Vision Alliance.

And on June 15 in Silicon Valley, Bier will be presenting at a meeting of the Chinese American Information Storage Society (CAISS). It will be held at the corporate headquarters of Alliance member company LSI, 1320 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA 95131. This event is open to the public, and the title of Bier's talk will be "The Rise of Embedded Vision: Machines that See and Understand."

UPDATE: On June 24, Bier will also participate in the Vision Industry and Entrepreneur Workshop, again part of the IEEE CVPR Conference.

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
