On September 29, 2026 at 9 am PT (noon ET), Pierrick Boulay, Principal Analyst, Automotive Semiconductors, and Anas Chalak, Technology & Market Analyst, Imaging at Yole Group, will present the free hour webinar “Automotive Perception in the Physical AI Era: Imaging, Sensors and Computing,” organized by the Edge AI and Vision Alliance. Here’s the description, from the event registration page:
Automotive perception is entering a new phase as vehicles evolve from collections of largely independent sensing and control functions into integrated physical AI systems. Cameras, radar, imaging radar, selective LiDAR and increasingly powerful computing platforms must now work together to interpret complex environments, support real-time decision-making and enable safer, more capable driver-assistance and automated-driving functions.
This transition is accelerating demand for automotive sensing. Tightening safety regulations, the increasing deployment of advanced driver assistance systems and the expansion of driver and occupant monitoring are driving higher sensor and camera content per vehicle. Automotive applications are also contributing to a renewed growth cycle for the CMOS image sensor industry, whose revenues increased by approximately 9% year over year in 2025 to nearly $25 billion.
At the same time, physical AI is transforming the broader ADAS architecture. Vehicles are moving from modular, rule-based systems toward more integrated, learning-centric platforms that connect perception, decision-making and vehicle control. This shift is increasing computing requirements while changing the respective roles of cameras, radar, imaging radar and LiDAR within the perception stack.
The webinar will examine how these technology changes are reshaping the automotive supply chain as OEMs gain greater control of software and data, semiconductor suppliers provide more complete platforms and Tier-1s strengthen their system-integration capabilities. It will conclude with a market outlook for automotive cameras, sensors and computing content per vehicle.
Pierrick Boulay is Principal Analyst, Automotive Semiconductors at Yole Group, leading research on automotive lighting, LiDAR, ADAS sensing and VCSELs.
Anas Chalak is Technology & Market Analyst, Imaging at Yole Group, researching imaging technologies and markets.
