Intel and SoftKinetic Expand Collaboration to Accelerate Time-to-Market of Perceptual Computing with Intel Processor-Based Platforms

SoftKinetic

TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — COMPUTEX — SoftKinetic, the leading 3D gesture recognition software and solution provider, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Intel to license iisu, SoftKinetic's industry-leading middleware for close-range gesture tracking – to be included in the Intel Perceptual Computing Software Development Kit (SDK) – which brings new experiences to Intel architecture based platforms which can include Ultrabook, notebooks, desktops, All-In-One PCs and tablets.

The close-range hand and finger tracking capabilities offered by SoftKinetic's iisu are included in the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK available to developers free of charge (http://www.intel.com/software/perceptual). Under the new agreement, Intel-based platforms can now offer these capabilities and enable thousands of applications to be developed using the SDK. The depth capabilities of the SDK work with the CREATIVE Interactive Gesture Camera that has been enabled with the SDK and that uses SoftKinetic DepthSense 3D time-of-flight sensor technology.

"SoftKinetic is a leader in the field of 3D gesture recognition who is helping make our vision of natural, interactive user experiences a reality," said Mark Yahiro, Managing Director of New Business, Perceptual Computing at Intel. "We are excited to enable new experiences using 3D gestures in combination with voice, augmented reality and other perceptual capabilities."

The Gold version of the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK, available since March 2013, enables developers to support a wide variety of consumer solutions that utilize gesture recognition, voice recognition and face tracking as close as 6 inches from the screen.

"We are excited to contribute our technology to the Intel Perceptual Computing Program, not only towards the developer community, but also to manufacturers of Intel platforms," said Michel Tombroff, CEO of SoftKinetic. "This expanded collaboration with Intel will accelerate the adoption and proliferation of intuitive, engaging and personalized experience to the consumers."

SoftKinetic will demonstrate these latest technological advances at this year's COMPUTEX TAIPEI, June 4-8 at the W Hotel, Suite 1730.

SoftKinetic offers hardware, middleware, and applications that can be built once and deployed on multiple devices. With a highly optimized CPU footprint, SoftKinetic's middleware solutions are perfectly adapted for embedded platforms, as well as personal computers, consoles, set-top boxes, and smart TVs. Combined with world-class support, SoftKinetic is the leader in 3D imaging and 3D gesture recognition offerings.
