Upcoming Technical Training Empowers Engineers to Create "Machines that See and Understand"

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., April 24, 2014The Embedded Vision Alliance (www.Embedded-Vision.com) today announced the full program for the Embedded Vision Summit West 2014, an event for system, software, and chip design engineers. The Embedded Vision Summit West 2014 will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Santa Clara (California) Convention Center. The Summit is a full day of "how-to" presentations and demonstrations of technology and products in one of the hottest areas of technological innovation today: practical computer vision, which enables “machines that see and understand.”

The Summit morning keynote will be delivered by Yann LeCun, Director of AI Research at Facebook. LeCun is also the Silver Professor of Data Science, Computer Science, Neural Science, and Electrical Engineering at New York University. The Summit afternoon keynote will be presented by Nathaniel Fairfield, technical lead on Google's self-driving car team. Fairfield will discuss Google's overall approach to solving the driving problem, the capabilities of the car, the company's progress so far, and the remaining challenges to be resolved. Also on the Summit program are two tracks' worth of technical tutorials from 15 companies, plus a product showcase with nearly two dozen participating companies. And on Wednesday, May 28, Embedded Vision Alliance member companies will conduct two in-depth design workshops.

“The Embedded Vision Summit West 2014 builds on the success of last year’s East- and West-coast events,” said Jeff Bier, President of BDTI and founder of the Embedded Vision Alliance. “This year we will deliver even more information, more practical know-how, and more product ideas to attendees.” Those who attended previous Embedded Vision Summits have been enthusiastic, rating them highly for content and usefulness. Registration for the Summit is $199 and is available online at http://www.Embedded-Vision.com/summit/may2014/registration. This year’s Summit is co-located with the Augmented World Expo, and special discounts for AWE are available for Summit attendees.

The Embedded Vision Summit West will take place on the third anniversary of the founding of the Embedded Vision Alliance, an industry partnership that brings together providers of the technology used to create practical computer vision applications. Founded in May 2011 with 16 initial members, the Alliance now consists of 35 companies located worldwide and supplying hardware, software and design services. The Alliance website, at http://www.Embedded-Vision.com, serves as a source of practical information to help design engineers and application developers incorporate vision capabilities into their products. Access to resources on the site, provided by Alliance staff and member companies, is free to all. Registered website users obtain additional benefits, such as the Alliance's free twice-monthly newsletter, Embedded Vision Insights (http://www.EmbeddedVisionInsights.com).
