aiSim named Vision Product of the Year in the Development Tool category, while aiWare wins in the Processors category.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 22, 2018 – Revealed today at the Embedded Vision Summit, two of AImotive’s advanced technology solutions have been named Vision Product of the Year in their respective categories. aiSim, the company’s highly realistic simulator for autonomous vehicle development won in the Development Tool category. aiWare, the company’s neural network accelerator IP, designed from the ground up for vision-first automotive use-cases meanwhile won in the Processors category of the award.

Speaking in Santa Clara László Kishonti, AImotive CEO, emphasized the importance of simulation technology to ensure the scalability of autonomous vehicle technology in a presentation given to the Technical Insights track of the conference. Simulation technology is the only logistically and financially viable solution to complete the billions of miles of testing needed to make self-driving systems safe.

A vision-first approach to autonomous vehicle technology results in complex neural networks running on high-resolution inputs. This is a challenge that previously no artificial intelligence acceleration method was prepared for. aiWare is AImotive’s solution to this challenge as an efficient, scalable host offload for neural network processing. The IP provides unrivalled power efficiency in latency critical environments and is uniquely scalable to larger systems.

“Self-driving cars are one of the most important – and challenging – applications of computer vision,” said Jeff Bier, founder of the Embedded Vision Alliance. “AImotive has been an early and consistent innovator in this space, not only in algorithms but also in processors and development tools. It’s therefore no surprise that our panel of independent judges has recognized aiSim and aiWare with this honor.”

AImotive’s aiDrive, a vision-first artificial intelligence powered self-driving full stack software has also been shortlisted in the TU-Automotive Awards Best ADAS or Autonomous Product/Service category. The awards ceremony will be held on June 5, 2018 in Novi, Michigan, before TU-Automotive Detroit kicks off on June 6.
