Zafer Diab, Director of Product Marketing at Synaptics, demonstrates the company’s latest edge AI and vision technologies and products at the 2021 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Diab demonstrates smart video conferencing on the edge in partnership with Pilot.ai.

Enhancements in AI processing capabilities on edge devices are enabling a richer video conferencing experience. These capabilities are leveraged in use cases that range from biometrics and automatic access of calendar and video conferencing applications through face and voice identification, to a smarter framing of the scene in front of the camera, and understanding the language for auto-subtitling…all on the edge.

The Synaptics VS680 and VS780 SOCs were designed with smart video conferencing use cases in mind. They are highly integrated to implement cost optimized video conferencing devices in different form factors and boast the needed AI computation. In this demonstration, the VS680 runs smart framing, where the captured scene in front of the camera is dynamically adjusted to show the region of interest using machine learning.

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
