Cadence Demonstration of Tensilica DSPs’ Vision and AI Capabilities for Industrial Products

David Bell, Product Marketing Director for Tensilica AI IP products at Cadence, demonstrates the company’s latest edge AI and vision technologies and products at the 2023 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Bell demonstrates the vision and AI capabilities of Tensilica DSPs for industrial products, in the process also answering the question of whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable.

The demo consists of a self-contained industrial camera from Labforge, which utilizes a Toshiba SoC enabled with multiple Vision P6 DSPs and a custom NPU. The Vision P6 DSP handles the pre- and post-processing, non-linear operations, and other CV/imaging algorithms in the camera system. The Vision DSP additionally allows for flexibility in implementing various AI algorithms for different applications and requirements on this platform alongside the NPU.

Here you’ll find a wealth of practical technical insights and expert advice to help you bring AI and visual intelligence into your products without flying blind.
