Chips&Media Demonstration of Its WAVE-N NPU In High-quality, High-resolution Imaging Applications

Andy Lee, Vice President of U.S. Marketing at Chips&Media, demonstrates the company’s latest edge AI and vision technologies and products at the 2025 Embedded Vision Summit. Specifically, Lee demonstrates example high-quality, high-resolution imaging applications in edge devices implemented using WAVE-N, his company’s custom NPU.

Key notes:

  • Extreme efficiency, up to 90% of MAC utilization, for modern CNN computation
  • Highly optimized for real-time video processing at high resolution, such as 4K60fps
  • Area efficiency close to INT8 with no risk in quantization and fixed-point arithmetic error – only 4M logic gates for 1,024 16-bit floating point MACs
  • Power efficiency that prevents thermal issues due to zero or minimum DRAM bandwidth consumption

Highly optimized for real-time video processing at high resolutions such as 4K60 fps, WAVE-N’s core line-by-line processing technology eliminates DRAM bandwidth consumption, critically reducing latency and power. This fully programmable core is currently available for commercialization and evaluation.
