DURHAM, N.C., April 16, 2026 — Image Quality Labs, Inc. today announced the launch of the IQL/poLight ASA/Sunex, Inc. MLens® EVK System, a new evaluation platform designed to help engineers assess electronically tunable focus for embedded vision, machine vision, robotics and AI imaging applications.
The new development kit combines poLight’s MLens® tunable lens technology, Sunex optics and Image Quality Labs’ camera module integration expertise in a practical system intended to speed evaluation and prototyping of next-generation imaging solutions.
Built around a Raspberry Pi 5, the EVK includes an IQL Sony IMX462 camera module, custom adapter hardware and a pre-installed focusing GUI. The company said the platform is designed to give engineers an easier way to get started with demonstration, testing and evaluation of compact, electronically tunable focus in a working embedded vision environment.
The MLens® EVK System is aimed at teams developing imaging systems for applications such as robotics, edge AI and machine vision, where fast, compact and electronically controlled focus can offer advantages over conventional approaches. By integrating tunable optics with a ready-to-use embedded platform, the kit provides a hands-on way to explore the benefits of the technology in real-world development workflows.
Image Quality Labs will demonstrate the system live at the Embedded Vision Summit on May 11-12 at booth #819.
The IQL/poLight/Sunex MLens® EVK System is available directly from Image Quality Labs and through DigiKey.
