ModelCat Selected for 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator

Company will collaborate with Amazon and Plug and Play Tech Center to evaluate edge AI deployment pathways that can help reduce device energy consumption and carbon impact

Sunnyvale, California — May 20, 2026 — ModelCat today announced that it has been selected to participate in the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, a program developed by Amazon in partnership with Plug and Play Tech Center to identify and support companies with technologies that can help reduce the carbon impact of consumer devices used by millions of customers around the world.

ModelCat is one of 15 companies selected for the 2026 cohort. The accelerator brings together companies working across sustainable batteries, low-carbon materials, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor innovation, energy efficiency, next-generation displays and circularity solutions.

As part of the program, ModelCat will work with Amazon and Plug and Play teams through an Integration Assessment process focused on evaluating real-world AI deployment pathways, technical integration potential and operational scalability. The companies in the cohort will develop integration plans that are expected to be reviewed by Amazon Devices senior leadership in October.

For ModelCat, participation in the accelerator represents an opportunity to explore how edge AI can help reduce the energy consumption and carbon footprint of consumer devices. By enabling AI inference directly on devices, rather than relying exclusively on cloud-based processing, edge AI has the potential to improve energy efficiency, reduce latency and support scalable deployment of AI capabilities in real-world hardware environments.

The 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator cohort was announced at Plug and Play’s Silicon Valley Summit. According to Amazon, the program is designed to condense what could traditionally take years of enterprise business development into a six-month process focused on integration planning and technical evaluation.

ModelCat’s participation reflects the growing importance of energy-efficient AI deployment as more intelligence moves into consumer, industrial and embedded devices. As AI workloads continue to expand, optimizing inference for edge environments can help reduce dependence on cloud infrastructure while enabling responsive, privacy-preserving and lower-power applications.

The 2026 cohort includes Anaeco, Ares Materials, DreamInk, California Perovskite Technology, Coreshell, DongGuan Novation, e-peas, Hiro Robotics, Microwave Chemical, ModelCat AI, Naieel Technology, Nanopower Semiconductor, Oleago, Syklo Group and XLYNX Materials.
