Sony IMX900-based camera provides a practical platform for machine vision, robotics and embedded imaging development
Image Quality Labs, Inc. (IQL) has introduced the Hummingbird, a Raspberry Pi camera platform built around Sony’s 3.2-megapixel IMX900 global-shutter image sensor. Designed for computer vision applications involving moving objects, the platform combines an IQL fixed-focus camera module with a custom Raspberry Pi adapter board.
The global-shutter sensor enables the simultaneous capture of all pixels in each frame, making the Hummingbird suitable for applications in which motion can make accurate image acquisition challenging. Potential uses include robotics, industrial automation, machine vision, drones, research and embedded vision prototyping.
The Hummingbird camera module has a fixed-focus lens with a 135-degree diagonal field of view. It connects through a MIPI CSI-2 interface and is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5. The complete platform includes both the IMX900 camera module and IQL’s custom adapter board, giving developers an accessible starting point for evaluating the sensor and developing camera-enabled systems.
