Jeff Bier to Speak at AI Everywhere 2025

On Thursday, December 11, Jeff Bier, Founder of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance will present at two sessions as part of EE Times’ AI Everywhere 2025.

In the first, “Edge AI Everywhere: What Will It Take To Get There?” Jeff will highlight some inspiring success stories and explore the key challenges that need to be overcome to enable more edge AI-based systems to reach massive scale.

Abstract:

Edge AI and machine perception are no longer science projects—some applications, such as automotive safety systems, have already achieved massive scale. But for every successful product, there are countless others that have failed to move beyond pilot deployments. What’s holding them back? Scaling edge AI involves far more than just getting a model to run on a device. Challenges range from obtaining sufficient training data and designing robust perception pipelines to physical installation and fleet management to model updates and hardware changes. And as deployments grow, so do the variations in real-world conditions. In this session, Jeff Bier will highlight some of the most exciting emerging applications for these technologies. In addition, he’ll explore how development practices are changing, and shine a light on the most common pain points reported by developers, drawing on results from the Edge AI and Vision Alliance’s annual Computer Vision and Perceptual AI Developer Survey.

In the second, Jeff will be joined by speakers from Alliance Member companies Ambarella, STMicroelectronics, and Synopsys for a panel discussion, “Deploying and Scaling AI at the Edge – From Lab to Life Cycle.”

Abstract:

This Panel Discussion with Industry Experts is moderated by Anne-Françoise Pelé, Editor in Chief, EE Times Europe.

Bringing machine learning workloads from the lab to real-world edge environments and applications presents a unique set of challenges. Unlike other embedded systems, edge AI applications must contend with constrained hardware, evolving model requirements, and complex deployment scenarios, all while maintaining privacy, security and performance. This panel will explore best practices throughout the life cycle of edge AI products, from initial commercialization through deployment and scaling, into ongoing product iteration and maintenance. Our panel of experts will discuss strategies for transitioning prototypes into reliable products, trade-offs in hardware design and model complexity, and how to manage system updates in the face of rapid advancements in both AI models and edge hardware.

Panelists:

  • Amit Badlani, Director of Generative AI and Robotics, Ambarella
  • Jeff Bier, President of BDTI, Founder Edge AI and Vision Alliance
  • Gordon Cooper, Principal Product Manager / Edge AI IP, Synopsys
  • Stefan Finkbeiner, CEO and General Manager, Bosch Sensortec
  • Stephane Henry, Managing Director, A&I Solutions, STMicroelectronics
