March 19, 2021 – Immervision is announcing a new partner for JOYCE, the world’s first humanoid robot to unite the computer vision community: Lifineo. Lifineo is bringing a new innovative technology called Voice on Light (Vol) ® to revolutionizes people and indoor objects geolocation and generates data through light. Immervision’s JOYCE will integrate Vol® technology to further evolve machine perception and help deliver human-like vision and beyond.

Lifineo will provide its unique technology and expertise to enhance JOYCE sense of indoor perception. By modulating the intensity and frequency of LED lighting in a way that cannot be seen by human eye, Vol® can efficiently locate and send information to objects or people, leading to the development of a wide array of powerful applications.

Indoor geolocation with a very high degree of accuracy can’t be achieved at a low-cost with traditional technologies. With Vol®, JOYCE will know the exact location of people and objects in her environment, therefore simplifying real time interaction.

This kit will allow partners in the JOYCE program to add additional sensors, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to enhance JOYCE’s perception and understanding of her environment to solve computer vision challenges.
